Monopaulize Challenge: Day 28
Crunch time! A few more days to the end of the month which also coincides with the deadline I have set for the Monopaulize challenge. Here’s an update on what I did.
What Time Did I Get Up
Set my alarm for the usual 6:45 am routine for work. Snooze my alarm for twice and got up at only 7:15 am.
What Did I Accomplish
I had set out to complete the following task yesterday:
1) Read about how to organize content on a niche site
2) Launch this site!
I did end up reading 3 different blog posts on silo content structures and why they are better for user experience as well as SEO. I’m still a little confused on what is the “best” way to organize content on a niche site, but I have a general idea of what needs to be done.
I also finally launched this site! It’s live!
I spent about 3.5 hours doing the two tasks stated above.
What I Learned
Every step of building a website requires a great deal of attention. I had thought that to launch my sites, all I had to do was to find some nice pictures, slap them onto different articles and hit “publish.”
As I found out, it’s extremely important to have a great website structure just so it doesn’t look too cluttered. This is ideally carried out right after kW research, but I guess it’s still not too late for me given I have published anything on my niche sites. I’ve learnt to pay attention to every step of the process and maybe create a step-by-step guide to share with my audience.
What Was Challenging
Aside from grouping my kWs into different “silos” and learning about the different site structures I could be using, another thing that is challenging is picking out a domain name. Coming up with a brandable domain name that sticks is quite a task for me…maybe I’m just not the most creative person around.
Goals for Tomorrow
I have set the following goals for the tomorrow:
1) Group potential kWs for both sites into different silos
2) Think of different domain names I could be using for both sites
If I’m able to complete this tomorrow, that’ll mean I will have the 30th and 31st to put everything together and launch my site. That’s quite challenging, so if you have any tips, feel free to share!
