Monopaulize Challenge: Day 17
Here’s just a short update on what went on in Day 17 of the challenge. I decided to work from home because well, the ongoing assignments at work are so independent that I don’t really need anyone and vice versa. This is great considering I do not have to spend 3 hours commuting to and from work, PLUS, I get to work with a flexible schedule when I do work from home. The fact is, it is difficult to work “8 hours a day.” More often than not, I work 5 solid hours and the other 3 hours are really nonproductive hours. I don’t believe anyone can actually “work” with focus 8 hours a day. To me, as long as I get all my work done BEFORE the deadline/delivery date, I’m good. As many would say,
Work expands so as to fill the time available for its completion
In other words, if you have a 5 hour report to write, you’ll finish it on the 8th hour just because you have the time to do so.
So, I ended up switching back and forth between my office work and work for this challenge at least 3 times this Friday. I find that this allows me to surprisingly work more productively and at the same time not waste any time. Even better, it made sure I ENJOYED what I was doing throughout the day whether it was work work on side projects work.
Using my time very efficiently, I managed to spend about 3.5 hours doing kW research and found a few great keywords. I’m still going to do kW research until I find one that I really feel good about.
How about you? Are you short on the goals you set for yourself? Are you filling up your time with unnecessary distractions?
