Monopaulize Challenge – Day 14

Monopaulize Challenge: Day 14

Monopaulize Day 14

What Time Did I Get Up

I got up at 7:00 am today, nothing noteworthy here…

What Did I Accomplish The Past Week

Yesterday I set one goal for myself to accomplish today:

1) Finish writing one EPIC informational article, and write one product review article

How did I do? I finished the product review article but as for as the EPIC informational article goes, I underestimated the amount of work needed to do such an article. So I’d say I finished about 75% of that article…’s already about 2,000 words.

Resources Committed

Yesterday I spent about 1.5 hours in the morning writing the product review article and another 3 hours in the evening/night writing on the informational article.

What I Learned

Today I learnt a very important lesson; never underestimate the amount of time it takes to complete a given task! An informational article could seem like it would only take 2 hours to research and write…however, depending on the topic, the scope/length, and how tired you are, it can certainly take longer. For the informational article I’m focusing on right now, I’m in the process of compiling a list of things for a certain topic and this does eat up much time. Googling tens of different terms on different tabs and switching back and forth between my browser and MS Word is time consuming.

Moving forward, I will try to allocate more time/resources to accurately reflect how much work is needed. I have so many “I will try” statements at this point that it might make sense for me to come up with a “to-do list.”

What Was Challenging

I’m still in the middle of figuring out how to eliminate distractions while I work on these projects. Not getting enough sleep is also a challenge because I feel extremely tired once the clock strikes 10:30 pm.

In one of my last updates, I mentioned that it would probably be a wise thing to set up a schedule, whereby I set specific number of hours per day to work on these projects.

I’ve set such schedules before, but didn’t really like the flexibility of it. Moreover I didn’t have CLEAR GOALS, so I’d end up scheduling 3 hours aside after dinner to work on my website, but most of that time is wasted as I’m not working towards a GOAL. I should try incorporating this given that I’m setting daily goals for myself now. In other words, I just need to sit down for those 3 hours and I’ll know exactly what I’m supposed to do.

Goals for Tomorrow

I only have 1 goal for the 15th:

1) Finish up the write up on the informational article and self-create an infographic.

I expect this work to be the last piece of content I will create for my first niche site this month. I need to push forward to the second site.

All for now,
