Monopaulize Challenge – Day 1

Monopaulize Challenge: Day 1

Monopaulize Challenge - Day One

Hi there! I have set myself up for a 30 day challenge in July 2015 whereby I will document what I have done on a daily basis as means to experiment new routines and keep me on track to meet the goals I’ve set out for myself. These daily posts will at some point follow a similar template and I hope this challenge will bring about positive changes in my life. I started this self-challenge on July 1st 2015 and this is what I have done today.

What Time Did I Get Up

Last night, when I knew I had to stick to the 30 day challenge I set out for myself, I set my alarm to 5:45 am. Why 5:45 am? Well, I wanted to have some time to work on things to achieve my goals at least 2 hours before I had to leave for work. I was skeptical if I was going to be able to get up this morning, but I did! No snooze buttons, no delays, just woke up and I’m off! I guess this a great start!

What Did I Accomplish Today

I had picked out a niche about a day or two ago and had drew out a general structure for this site. Most of my time today was spent on writing my homepage article, which is lengthy! I managed to write about a third of the article (1,500 words) and I am somewhat satisfied with the progress I’ve made. This niche is not something I’m too familiar with, so I had to do a lot of research and reading on the topic. I tested out a method to write out reviews and will look to test it out more tomorrow to see if it helps.

I also (finally) managed to set up this blog, which I have thought about doing for months now. I’m glad that this self declared challenge has somewhat made me take the step to do this.

Resources Committed

I spent about an hour in the morning reading and writing additional content to my article. I probably spent another 4.5 hours throughout the day with the same task. At night, I spent an hour setting up this blog and documenting my Day 1 progress. So, in total, I spent about 5.5 to 6 hours working on my goals.

What I Learned

Researching and writing about something I’m not too familiar with is definitely not my strong suite. I probably spent way too much time on writing this article. On the good side though, since I will be writing this article myself, I know that it is of great quality. I also learnt that waking up earlier can be challenging……if I didn’t have a goal in mind. I was actually looking forward to this challenge and got straight out of bed when the alarm struck. Usually, my alarm would be set to ring at 6:45 am and I would hit the snooze button twice before I dragged myself out of bed!

What Was Challenging

I’d say the most challenging thing is researching and writing about something I’m not familiar with. I’m looking to set a system so that I know the exact steps I need to take to write one of these detailed articles!

Another thing that was challenging was being able to focus in the morning. Again, since this is Day 1, I am hoping it’ll get better as I get used to it. Time will tell…

Goals for Tomorrow

Tomorrow, July 2nd, I will be looking to get up at 5:30 am and spend at least an hour on the site I am working on. Goals for tomorrow include:

1) Finish up 3 of the remaining 5 parts of my article. In other words, research and write another 1,500 words for my site’s homepage. This will be challenging and let’s see how well I perform in tomorrow’s update…..who knows, I might actually exceed my expectations!

2) Listen to one podcast or read one blog post related to online business to gain some inspiration.

Since I’m just starting up, these are the two main things I would like to achieve tomorrow. The main priority would be to research and write another 1,500 words. If I can do this, I am pretty much set for having the main article in my homepage completed by the weekend!

Thanks for following and stay tuned!

Signing off,

Paul
